The Florida Department of Corrections is offering an internal promotional opportunity for Correctional Officer Captain at Taylor Correctional Institution in Perry, Florida. Minimum qualifications include being at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, possessing a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of the basic recruit training course for correctional officers, and one year of experience as a certified officer with the State of Florida. Candidates must not have received a suspension within the past 12 months, an involuntary demotion within the past 24 months, or a performance evaluation rating below 3.00 within the past three fiscal years.
Specific duties and responsibilities include supervising correctional officers and sergeants, planning and coordinating activities, conducting performance evaluations, managing inmate housing areas, enforcing rules and sanitation standards, and providing crisis intervention functions.
